John Maus - We Must Become The Pitiless Censors Of Ourselves and The Jesus And Mary Chain - Psychocandy

John Maus's third album is a nice outing. starting with opener 'Streetlight', then straight onto the best track on the first side, 'Quantum Leap' which propels itself rockingly along with a nice bassline and very appealing synthesizers. 'And The Rain' is ok, and then 'Hey Moon' is simply mesmerizing with stunning vocals all over the track. 'Keep pushing on ' is a intense epic from start to finish. 'The Crucifix' move along nicely into "Head For The Country' which is memorable. 'Cop Killer is slightly humourous, and 'Matter of Fact' is hilarious.'We can Break through' has some good vocals and 'Believer' is simply breathtaking, this album WMBTPCOO, has some good moments on it and is really John Maus's breakthrough album where he really cracks right onto creating something with a pop sensibulity, but futuristic and has an attitude, whether it be slightly humourous in parts. 8/10

Psychocandy by The Jesus And Mary Chain is a seminal classic album. with literally stacks of feedback layering all around to make a terrific wall of sound. the attitude. the chaos. the passion of these tracks is simply brilliant. Opening Track 'Just like Honey' opens with bass drum and a snare crack like Ronnettes Be My Baby. and just is filled with moments of pure joy. 'The Living End' is filled with venom. 'Taste the Floor' is toxic. 'The Hardest Walk' is an early standout track. 'Cut Dead' a nice slow song just to get you ready for... 'In A Hole' sheer brilliant wall of noise that hits you in the face with pleasure, searing metallic guitar 'Taste Of Cindy' is ok, and 'Some Candy Talking is heavenly, 'Never Understand' me is good, 'Inside Me' is ok, 'You Trip Me Up' is great Somethings Wrong and Its So Hard are grand also. in all Psychocandy is passionate, stirring in parts, resilient, hard hitting, sombre. its really got everything from a punk album, plenty of attitude and songs to boot. 9/10
